What happened?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you’re heading to the French Alps for your ski holiday<\/a>, you may have heard about a rockfall on the RN90 – the main road connecting Albertville and Mo\u00fbtiers. On Saturday, February 1, 2025, three large boulders, each weighing over 150 tonnes, crashed onto the road, causing significant disruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This route is a key access point for many ski resorts, including the Three Valleys, Tignes, Val d\u2019Is\u00e8re, La Plagne, Les Arcs and La Rosi\u00e8re. While authorities managed to partially reopen the road in the afternoon, full clearance will take a few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe’ve already started clearing the rocks that are on the road. About a quarter of what fell has already been cleared,\u201d said Herv\u00e9 Gaymard, president of the Savoie department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
