Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The standard route from Bergamo Airport to Samoens (337km) will usually take you via routes A4/E64 and E25. Move through SP116 and Via Aeroporto to SS671 (Bergamo). Journey Altitude

It’s important to remember that your journey from Bergamo Airport to Samoens will take you to a very high altitude. This can present its own potential complications.

Bergamo Airport is located at an altitude of 238 meters, while the altitude of Samoens village is around 700m and the ski area actually starts at 1600m. This journey can present some passengers with mild discomfort. Nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are especially prone to develop altitude sickness.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey sometimes can be difficult. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

When feeling particularly unwell, the beautiful mountain scenery on your way to Samoens can work as perfect medicine for you.
