The standard route from Geneva to Tignes will usually take you via Annecy (along Lake Annecy) and Albertville, then up to Bourg St Maurice. This route can become very congested during peak season and weekend change-over.
An alternative route will take you via the motorway, heading towards Lyon / Albertville. This journey is longer and will incur motorway toll fees though you could get to Tignes faster if you find the shorter route to be heavily congested.

There are a few different areas within the resort. The main village is known as Tignes Le Lac, where the atmosphere is constantly lively and there’s plenty to do. For a more traditional and picture-perfect appeal, head to Les Brevieres. The highest village in Tignes is Val Claret.
