Airport transfers from Grenoble to Chamrousse will take around 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the weather conditions and the time of your travel. Chamrousse ski resort is particularly popular with young families and students, if travelling at peak times, you can expect to encounter some traffic and waiting. Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The direct route from Grenoble to Chamrousse (79,6 km) will usually take you via route A48. Take the route D119. Continue on D119. Take the routes A48, A480 and N87 towards D523 (Gières). From N87 turn to exit 2. On the routes D524, Route de Champ Ruti and D111 head to your destination Place de Belledonne (Chamrousse). Always ask the driver about the best possible route.

 

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go right to your ski resort, ask your driver for a short stop (up to 10 minutes).  If you wish to stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or breathe a fresh air, we will happily accommodate this.

Chamrousse Ski Resort is located at the top of the spectacular Belledonne massif and is just 30km up from Grenoble. You can enjoy marvellous sights of the city one side and fantastic views of the mountains on the other. Make sure you have your camera ready!

There are a few supermarkets en-route to Chamrousse. You can grab there some snacks or buy necessary ski holiday essentials before you get to the resort. Sometimes products bought on the way to ski resort can be much cheaper comparing to those found in the resort stores. Bear in mind, that all shop visits should be pre-booked with Customer Support prior your arrival.

Journey Altitude

It’s important to remember that your journey from Grenoble to Chamrousse will take you to a very high altitude. This may present its own potential complications for some passengers.

Grenoble airport sits at almost 400m, while Chamrousse ski resort is situated at an altitude of 1700m. Such symptoms as nausea, headaches and dizziness can be the result of a change in air pressure. Young children are especially sensitive to air pressure change.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey can be difficult for some. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

Chamrousse Ski Resort

The Chamrousse ski resort is situated right at the entrance to an area known as the Belledonne and has exceptional panoramic views overlooking Grenoble on the valley floor. The ski resort is made up of two small towns: Chamrousse Recoin (located at Chamrousse 1650m and is convenient for athletic skiing, you’ll also find there the famous runs from the 1968 Olympics) and Chamrousse Roche-Béranger (located at Chamrousse 1750m and is more suitable for family skiing). Villages are interconnected by ski slopes. There is also a free shuttle bus connecting the different parts of the resort: Chamrousse 1650 (Nook), Chamrousse 1700 (Arselle ski Area), Chamrousse 1750 (Roche Beranger) and Chamrousse 1600 (For Cross Country Skiing in Arselle). 

Your ski pass will give you the unlimited access to 77 km of pistes, served by 26 ski lifts. Snowboarders will love Chamrousse’s snow parks especially designed for them such as the “Sunset Park” or the “Kid’s park”. The resort also offers night skiing possibilities.
