Seefeld

Seefeld in Tirol is an old farming village. Already since the 1930s, it has been well known as a winter sports center and amongst the most popular tourist resorts in Austria.

Seefeld is located just a stone’s throw from the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck and was built around a large pedestrian center. Seefeld is known for hosting the Winter Olympics, both in 1964 and 1976, and most recently the first Youth Olympics in 2012. With more than one million overnight stays each year, it is one of the most popular Tyrolean tourist destinations.

Ski area

Seefeld`skiing certainly plays a big part in the attractions on the Seefeld plateau in the winter. Seefeld resort is backed up by snow-making equipment, which covers 90% of the ski area's terrain. This contributes to a relatively long season, which runs from early December until Easter. Seefeld ski has 27 km of pisted ski runs with 19 individual pistes:

  • 1 black piste;
  • 8 red pistes;
  • 10 blue pistes.

The downhill skiing in the Seefeld is concentrated in two sections:

  • The smaller Gschwandtkopf mountain – very popular among beginners;
  • The larger Rosshütte/Härmelekopf mountain - good for experts for some serious skiing.

It is also thought about snowboarders. Seefeld's Crazy Hole terrain park in Rosshütte have a dozen different elements to enjoy including - three jump combination with jumps from four to eight meters, 2 quarter pipes, double waves, rails and three super-size steep turns. Also, there are wide open trails which are well suited to beginner and intermediate levels.

Seefeld is also known as a cross-country skier’s paradise with 279 km of trails in total, mostly running through the scenic valley route to Mösern. Trails range in difficulty, from the classic style to more robust, speedier, skating style.

Seefeld has around 60 hotels including an excellent choice of luxury hotel accommodation, also, a similar number of B&B pensions and over 150 apartment houses spread throughout the village – something for everyone’s needs.
