Get to know Megève Ski Resort

Developed in the 1910s, Megève is full of history. The ski area is immense, offering 400 kilometres of slopes that are adaptable for all ski levels. The good thing about skiing at Megève is the panoramic view of Mont-Blanc. But it’s not all about the ski. From museums, horse-drawn carriage rides in the village, to traditional bars and restaurants, where you can try the traditional food and all other different cuisines.

Skiing and activities in Megève

Visiting Megève in the winter season is magical. Many activities are available for you and your family as well. Some activities include snowshoe hikes, sleigh dogs, and activities on ice like climbing or curling.

Megève is also rich in apres-ski activities. The Cocoon Club is a 25-year-old club and a must-go if you visit the Megève ski resort. If you’re travelling with your little ones, they have a ski school made for 3 to 4 years old where the professional instructors help your kids discover the ski world and the snow.

Megève skiing: an overview

Megève has a total of 235 slopes. The downhill slopes are adapted to beginners, intermediates, and more advanced skiers. There are 43 green slopes for the beginners, 63 blue slopes categorised as “moderate difficulty” for the intermediate skiers, and lastly, 84 red slopes plus 33 black slopes for the ones who really know what they’re doing. Throughout the ski area, 112 ski lifts, including gondolas and chairlifts, are accessible.

Non-skiing activities in Megève

Megève ski resort has designated activities for non-skiers. We will leave you with three non-ski activities at Megève. The first one is snowbiking, which is practiced when the ski area closes. Instructors are there to help you with some tips so you can have a fun and safe experience.

The second suggestion is tobogganing; there are marked runs with three metres of distance. The great thing about it is that you can do night runs as well, where you get to experience a magical moment.

For the third option, we have dog sledding. Before you begin the voyage, the professionals will introduce you to the dogs, which number around ten, and you will be given instructions on how to control them during the journey.

Things to do in Megève village

Have you ever had an experience inside an igloo? Regardless of your reply, the Aperigloo Megeve is a must-go. You get to have some cheese, wine, coffee, whatever you fancy with your group of friends. Guided tours are available where you get to have a more educational experience.

Aerocime, a Megève airline, offers you the opportunity to have a panoramic flight around Mont Blanc. If you prefer a more relaxed activity to do, visit the Aquaflorès PhysioSpa, where you get to have massages or 1-2 hours.

Family-friendly and kids’ fun in Megève

Taking the kids with you this winter to Megève? Not to worry. There are many activities to keep the kids entertained as well as the parents. Everyone can participate. One option is a paintball. The duration is 1-3 hours, and kids from 12 years old can participate. They speak English and also give courses to the kids as well as parents so everyone can improve their skills at the 4 paintball fields available.

The ski resort also offers guided hikes, where all the family gets to explore the mountain environment and discover local heritage and landscapes.

La Taverne du Mont d’Arbois, a 70s-decorated restaurant serving Savoyard cuisine. It’s open from December to March. La Table des Cochers is another restaurant option serving French cuisine. You can expect food served by an open fire and a homely environment.
