Journey Altitude

It’s important to remember that your journey from Salzburg to Obergurgl will take you to a very high altitude. This can present its own potential complications.

Salzburg airport sits at 430m, while Obergurgl sits at 1930m and is considered to be the highest located church village of Austria. Some passengers can experience mild discomforts, such as nausea, headaches and dizziness. That can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Particularly young children are often those who are feeling unwell.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey can be difficult for some people. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

It’s not the nicest feeling in the world when you are not feeling well, but the beauty of the mountains can be the perfect medicine for you.
