Transfers from Chambery to Megeve

Airport transfer time from Chambery to Megeve is less than 2 hours, though this may see significant changes depending on time, weather, traffic and road conditions. Megeve is a very popular ski resort, if travelling at high times, you can expect to encounter some congestion and waiting. Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The standard route from Chambery to Megeve (93km) will usually take you via route A43. Head for Route de l'aéroport towards D1201 (Voglans). Take the N201, A43, A430 and E70 towards Avenue Paul Girod/D1212 (Ugine). Continue driving on the D1212. Head towards Route du Téléphérique (Megève).  Please note that this route can be closed due to rock and mudslides.

An alternative route will take you via A41 and A40 (133km). Head for Route de l'aéroport towards D1201 (Voglans). Get on the A40/E25 direction Mont Blanc/Chamonix and turn off at Sallanches. From A40/E25, take exit 20. Head for Route du Rosay and D1212 towards Place de l'Eglise (Megève).

Always ask the driver about the best possible route.  If the weather is exceptionally bad,

just plan extra time for your transfer.

 

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go directly to your ski resort. If you’d like to stop at any stage to stretch your legs, have a cup of coffee or breathe in the fresh air, we will happily accommodate this.

There are plenty of supermarkets en-route to Megeve. You may want to pick up your much-needed ski holiday essentials or some snacks for the journey before you get to the resort. You may find products bought on the way to Megeve are cheaper than those found in the resort itself.

Megeve is set at the base of the Mont Blanc and is one of the most famous winter sports resorts in the world. It’s wonderful mountain scenery attracts a dozens of international skiers. Get your camera ready and start snapping.

Journey Altitude

It’s important to understand that your journey from Chambery to Megeve will take you to a very high altitude. This may present its own potential complications such as altitude sickness.

Chambery airport sits at around 235m, the main village of Megeve is situated at an altitude of 1100m. Some passengers can experience some mild discomfort, such as nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are most at risk to feeling unwell.

When you combine this air pressure change with a steep, serpentine and challenging road, the transfer journey can be a little more difficult. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

Megeve was the first purpose-built a ski resort in France. Megeve’s ski area is divided into three main ski sectors: Mont D'arbois, Rochebrune and Le Jaillet, which offer a combined 445km of pistes and are served by 116 lifts. Megeve pistes are deserted and you ski straight onto the lifts.
