Hinterthal off the pistes
Hinterthal après-ski
Hinterthal’s après-ski scene is delightfully relaxed, with the Steinbock Schirmbar as the heart of the action. Open from 2-9pm daily, this cozy spot is perfect for unwinding with a drink and catching up with fellow skiers. The village’s nightlife is charmingly low-key, embodying its traditional, small-town vibe. For a bit more variety, hop on the free ski bus to nearby Maria Alm, where you’ll find extra restaurants and bars. While Hinterthal might not have the bustling nightlife of larger resorts, it offers a serene, authentic Austrian mountain experience, ideal for those who enjoy a peaceful evening after hitting the slopes.
Hinterthal restaurants
Hinterthal offers a small but varied selection of dining options. The Botenwirt, in the village centre, serves traditional Austrian cuisine in a cosy setting. For a more upscale experience, Wachtelhof “DINE & WINE” in the Jagdgut Wachtelhof hotel offers fine dining. The Almbar Hinterthal, near Lake Florysee, provides a relaxed atmosphere for drinks and light meals.
The popular Steinbock Schirmbar is ideal for après-ski drinks and snacks. While choices are limited compared to larger resorts, these establishments provide authentic local flavours and warm hospitality. For more variety, visitors can take a short trip to nearby Maria Alm, which offers additional restaurants, cafes, and pizzerias. Overall, Hinterthal’s dining scene reflects its small-village charm, focusing on quality over quantity.
