Transfers from Munich to Hintertux

On average, a transfer from Munich airport to Hintertux will take around 2 hours and 30 minutes, depending on the time of your travel and weather and traffic conditions.

Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The direct route from Munich airport to Hintertux (209 km) will usually take you via route A8. Head to the West. Keep left and continue towards Zentralallee. Continue to Zentralallee. On A99, A8, A93 and A12 head towards Achensee Str./B181 (Wiesing, Österreich). From A12 take the exit 39-Wiesing. Take the Inntal autobahn to the Zillertal exit, and then follow the B169 Zillertal for 50 km towards Lanersbach (Tux).

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go straight to your ski destination. If you want to stop at any stage of the airport transfer, we will happily accommodate this. Ask your driver for a short stop (up to 10 minutes) -you can to get up and walk around, breathe in some fresh air or have a cup of tea.

There are many supermarkets en-route to Hintertux. If you will get hungry on the way to the ski resort, you can choose there a few snacks for the journey. You may find that sometimes products bought on the way are cheaper than those found in the resort itself. All shop visits should be pre-booked with Customer Support prior your arrival.

Hintertux village lies at the farthest end of the Tuxertal Valley at the foot of Hintertux glacier. You will enjoy amazing mountain views on your way to the ski resort. Get ready, take your camera out and start snapping!

 

Journey Altitude

When travelling at very high altitudes, it’s important to know that this journey can present some passengers with mild discomfort.

Munich airport sits at 448m, while Hintertux ski resort sits at an altitude of 1500m. Nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are often those who are at risk to feeling unwell.

As a result of the combination between such air pressure and steep, serpentine roads, the journey can be difficult. In this situation, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

Hintertux Ski Resort

Hintertux is a village located in Tyrol, Austria. Being one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Hintertux also is a glacier and a ski resort, given from the name it is “behind” Tux, just up the valley from the village Tux. The valley of Tux is a side valley of the Zillertal valley, Hintertux is a part of the Zillertal ski region.

As the whole resort is glacier skiing and snowboarding, Hintertux will allow you to ski the Tuxer Glacier - with skiing as high as 3,250m it offers steep, challenging slopes all year round. There's the Tux Sport bus which circles around so you can easily stop off wherever you want. You can try other activities, for example, a sledge ride on one of Tux's three illuminated tracks or snowshoe hikes, and over 38km of prepared winter hiking trails. Snowboarder and free-skiers will be happy to enjoy the year round freestyle-opportunities at the Betterpark Hintertux - one of the highest freestyle-spots in Austria. 

Hintertux is part of the Tux-Finkenberg ski area with access to 379km of downhill skiing, with 24 individual pistes, served by 59 ski lifts. The appropriate ski pass will allow you to ski and snowboard in the other Tux - Finkenberg ski resort of Finkenberg. From the beginning of December to middle April the ski areas on the Hintertux Glacier, Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Penken/Mayrhofen and Ahorn merge to form the snow sure Ski- & Glacier world Zillertal 3000.
