Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The direct route from Salzburg to Schladming (90,7km) will take you via routes A10 and B320. Through Christian-Doppler-Platz and Kasernenstraße merge onto the A1. Take the Tauern Autobahn (A10) until the Ennstal traffic node (Anschlußstelle Ennstal/B320/E651). From there, it’s only about 25 km to the Schladming-Dachstein region via the Ennstal federal road (B320). Move on B320 towards Roseggerstraße (Schladming). Always ask the driver about the best possible route. If there is bad weather or snow, simply add extra time for your transfer.

What to Do En-Route

Ask your driver for a short stop (up to 10 minutes) - if you wish to stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or have a cup of tea, we will happily accommodate this.

There are some supermarkets on your way to Schladming. You can buy there some snacks for the journey. Sometimes necessary ski holiday essentials can be cheaper than those found in the resort stores. Bear in mind, that all shop visits should be pre-booked with Customer Support prior your arrival.

Schladming is situated within the magnificent Dachstein mountain range and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and lakes. You can enjoy incredible views during your trip to the ski resort. Take your camera and start snapping!

Journey Altitude

It’s important to remember that your journey from Salzburg to Schladming will take you to a high altitude. This presents its own potential complications.

Salzburg airport sits at 430m, while Schladming sits at an altitude of 750m. This journey can possibly present some passengers with mild discomfort. Nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are the ones at risk to develop altitude sickness.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey sometimes can be difficult. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

When feeling particularly unwell, the magnificent landscape with quiet mountain lakes can be the great medicine for you.
