Slovakia’s best skiing sits in the High Tatras, where Jasná on Chopok is the country’s largest resort, with runs above 2,000 metres and some of the most reliable snow in Central Europe. Away from the Tatras, smaller resorts like Donovaly and Malino Brdo add gentler slopes and lower prices for families. Runs are shorter than in the Alps, but so are the queues, and a week here costs noticeably less than a trip to France or Austria. It suits skiers after an easy introduction to the sport, or anyone who fancies a quieter week away from the crowds. Alps2Alps runs transfers to Jasná, Štrbské Pleso, Donovaly, and the rest of Slovakia’s Tatra resorts.
