Take the stress out of a Chambery Airport to Chamonix transfer this ski season. Whether you’re an expert or a first-time skier, Chamonix has something to suit everyone. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular!

If you’re spending your holiday in one of the world’s top ten ski resorts, make travelling hassle-free by choosing a private transfer service.

Here’s everything you’ll need to know about your journey from Chambery Airport.

Transfers from Chambery Airport to Chamonix

On average, the travel time from Chambery to Chamonix will take approximately two hours. This is, of course, dependent on the time of travel, weather, traffic and road conditions. As the Chamonix Valley is an incredibly desirable location, you can expect delays during peak times.

Taking this into consideration, we at Alps 2 Alps recommend that you travel midweek to help reduce the chance of being stuck in traffic.  Whenever you choose to travel, we will always endeavour to make your journey as comfortable as possible. In times of heavy traffic or adverse weather conditions, your driver will take an alternative route to ensure you have the shortest trip possible.

Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

Chambery airport is ideally located next to the A41 autoroute, within approximately a two hour's drive from Chamonix (145km). A typical journey will take you along Route de l'Aéroport towards D1201 (Voglans).  Your driver will then take the following roads: E712, A410, A40/E25 and N205, heading towards Route Blanche/D1506 (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc). After that, you will continue along the Route Blanche/D1506, Avenue de Sigmaeye Allée Recteur Payot to reach your destination.

An alternative route will take you via the A43. Your driver will head for Route de l'Aéroport towards D1201 (Voglans).  After that, you will take the N201, A43, A430 and E70 in the direction of Avenue Paul Girod/D1212 (Ugine).

Your driver will always take the best possible route, however, please be aware that certain road conditions can add an hour or more to your journey.

What to Do En-Route

During your journey, if you need to stop for any reason, such as to stretch your legs, simply ask your driver. We will always do our best to accommodate your needs.

Along the way to the resort, there are numerous supermarkets and shops where you can buy snacks or groceries before your arrival.  Once you reach the resort, the shops have high prices, so it's advised to stock up on your essentials before you arrive.

Chamonix Village is nestled in the shadow of Mont Blanc's breath-taking snow-capped peak,   so you can expect to witness some amazing views en-route. Be sure to keep your camera handy, as you won’t want to miss a fantastic photo opportunity!

In need of ski equipment? Don’t wait until you arrive at the resort! We have ski rental shops in Albertville and Geneva.  We’ll discuss this in further detail later.
