The direct route from Milan airport to Cortina (453 km) will usually take you via route A4. Take Strada Statale 336. Move on the right lane and take the exit towards Aeroporto/A9/Como/Chiasso/Milano/Varese/Gravellona T./Busto Arsizio. On A4 and A27 head towards Strada Statale 51 di Alemagna/SS51 (Ponte nelle Alpi). From the A27, take the exit SS51. Continue on  Strada Statale 51 di Alemagna/SS51 towards your destination (Cortina d'Ampezzo).

What to Do En-Route

There are several supermarkets en-route to Cortina. It’s important to remember that your journey from Milan airport to Cortina will take you to a very high altitude. This may present its own potential complications.

Milan airport sits at 235m, while Cortina ski resort sits at an altitude of 1224m. This journey can present some passengers with mild discomfort. Nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children also are the ones at risk to feeling unwell.

As a result of the combination between steep, serpentine roads and such air pressure, the journey can be difficult. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

The appropriate ski pass will allow you to ski and snowboard in other Dolomiti Superski ski resorts of Alta Badia, Alta Pusteria, Arabba, Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm, Civetta, Bruneck-Kronplatz, Corvara, Predazzo, San Martino di Castrozza, Marmolada, Obereggen, Val Gardena, San Vito di Cadore, Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme and Valle Isarco.
