The first route from Munich to Saalbach goes round Munich city to the south-east, then, you have to turn right and pass along the river Inn till Austrian commune Niederndorf bei Kufsteinthe. After you turn left, continue going to the east. This road will pass along Hefferthorn - Fellhorn -  Sonnenberg national park. Turn right before you reach Lake Zell (Zeller See). The road passing along river Saalach will bring you to Saalbach ski resort.

An alternative road will be 10 km longer than the previous one. At first, it goes to the south from Munich, and then, quite straight to the east, past Chiemsee Lake southern through Maishofen commune till the turn to Saalbach.
