Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The direct route from Salzburg to St.Anton (275 km) will usually take you via routes A8 and A12. Through Christian-Doppler-Platz and Kasernenstraße merge onto the A1. Take A8 and A12 towards Arlbergstraße/B197 (Sankt Anton am Arlberg). From S16 turn to exit St.Anton. Take B197 route towards Postpl.

Always ask the driver about the best possible route. If there is bad weather or snow, simply add extra time for your transfer.

 

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go right to your and destination. Ask your driver for a short stop (up to 10 minutes) - if you wish to stop at any stage of the airport transfer to stretch your legs or have a cup of coffee, we will happily accommodate this.

There are many supermarkets on your way to St.Anton.  You can buy some snacks for the journey if you will get hungry. When it comes to buying food and travel essentials, sometimes products bought on the way to St.Anton can be cheaper than those found in the resort stores. Your journey from Salzburg to St.Anton will take you to a very high altitude. This can present its own potential complications.

Salzburg airport sits at 430m, while St.Anton sits at an altitude of 1300m. Some passengers can experience mild discomfort during the trip, such as nausea, headaches and dizziness which can be symptoms of the change in air pressure.  Young children are especially at risk to feeling unwell.

When you combine such air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey sometimes can be difficult. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.
