Bad Gastein is a town in Salzburg, Austria. The town center is located at the Gastein Falls, about 1,000 meters above sea level. It is a historic resort a picturesque valley between the rocks. Bad Gastein known is not only known as a summer and winter recreational center, but since 19th century also recognized as a spa town. The name "Bad" means "spa", reflecting the town's history as a health resort, having thermal baths. Bad Gastein is Austria's largest ski area. - Beginners – the nursery slopes are next to the main gondola. From the nursery slopes, beginners can progress onto blue runs on the Stubnerkogel.
- Intermediates – offers a wide variety of red and blue runs, linked with nearby Bad Hofgastein to make one large area.
- Experts - There are also some testing runs on the Stubnerkogel and a couple of nice blacks on the Graukogel. The off-piste can be fantastic too.
Bad Gastein is not a typical boarding resort, but it still have plenty of terrains to attract snowboarders, particularly those from intermediate level up, with good natural terrain features. For cross country skiers there is 90 km long trail.
The attractive town of Bad Gastein has an excellent après ski and of course, the famous spas. Atmosphere here is very lively, good choice of cosmopolitan nightspots with impressive casinos, for those who would like to try their luck. Also, here is wide choice of good restaurants, they over 35 – for all tastes and pockets.
It is also recommended to visit Bad Gastein thermal waters, hidden within their mountains. People have been attracted here to bathe in these 'healing' waters for hundreds of years. This is such a relaxing process, just sit in a warm thermal pool while looking up at the snow-covered mountains.
