Serre Chevalier is a major ski resort in southern France with a large skiing area and great weather – 300 days of sunshine a year, so you will definitely leave the resort with some tan! About the resort
With 250 km of marked ski pistes the Serre Chevalier Valley is the number one non-linked ski area in France. In total there are 144 pistes:
- 16 black pistes;
- 44 red pistes;
- 31 blue pistes;
- 24 green pistes.
The highest altitude for skiing is at 2,800 meters above sea level and the lowest one at 1,200 meters, but the total drop – 1,600 meters. The resort attracts a lot of snowboarders too - it is a “natural playground”. The slopes are made with natural obstacles and are great for confident snowboarders. There is also a good terrain park for all abilities and a school in Chantemerle that offers everything, from beginners lessons to freestyle courses. Skiers and snowboarders call it the Grand Serre Ché, and that is not a lie - it is the second largest ski area in the world.
Cross country skiing area runs through all the villages of the valley. The total length of pistes is 45 km including 10 km of skate lanes in the valley. The track mostly goes through the woods with beautiful mountain scenery, making Serre Chevalier a charming resort.
