Sustainability

All industries must seek ways to reduce their negative impacts on the environment to become more sustainable; the transport industry is no different.

Here at Alps2Alps, we are building and refining our operations, keeping in mind our carbon footprint and aiming to reduce our environmental impact by adopting the principles of sustainability:

We optimise our work plan to reduce the number of empty rides.

In the passenger transport industry, empty rides normally account for 20 to 30 percent of the total mileage. At Alps2Alps, we have created a comprehensive operating model to reduce the number of these rides.
Our price policy, marketing activities and planning ensure that our cars always drive with passengers. Therefore, when you see a tempting transfer offer, you can be sure that we are striving to fill a vehicle on a less popular trip.

We invite you to travel in groups.

The average CO2 emissions per mile depends on the type of transport, the number of passengers and the distance travelled. That is why we have introduced discounts for groups and a split-payment option to encourage our customers to join in groups on their trips.
Our price policy, marketing activities and planning ensure that our cars always drive with passengers. Therefore, when you see a tempting transfer offer, you can be sure that we are striving to fill a vehicle on a less popular trip.

We train our drivers for an efficient and economical driving style.

Driving style influences fuel usage. We ensure that all drivers avoid certain behaviours such as driving at excessive speed or driving with deflated tires, two ways to reduce petrol consumption.
In addition, an aggressive driving style is also dangerous. Our customer’s safety is our foremost priority, so we pay close attention to reviews about the driver’s driving style.
Thank you for choosing Alps2Alps, as you are also choosing a company with a mission towards sustainable travel.
May there always be snow in the Alps!

We optimise several Alpine fleets.

We drive our own vehicles while also cooperating with partners and other Alpine transport companies. When using partner vehicles, we apply our work model to all partners and draw up a single, maximally efficient work plan for all our partners’ fleets.
In doing so, this gives us the opportunity to increase the efficiency of not only ours, but also the fleets of our partners.

We choose the optimal routes.

We encourage our customers to take shorter routes where possible. A good example is the Geneva – Albertville motorway, which is 50 km longer than the national road.
Driving along the national road gives minimal time savings when there are no traffic jams at the toll gates, one reason our drivers might not take the motorway route.
But also, our dispatchers and navigation systems regularly recommend the optimal routes for the driver in everyday situations.
