Pass across Winterthour, continue your way, leaving aside Rickenbach commune. Then, drive through St.Gallen till Bodensee Lake. After, you have to pass Swiss-Austrian border and continue going across Bodensee Lake, still to the east. Pass Austrian Bregenz, continue driving to B12 in the direction to München/Kempten/Isny. Ride through the territory of Germany, passing through Hopferau, and, then, again going through Austrian Reutte, Bichlbach, Obergarten. Turn left to Bahnhof Umgebung/Ehrwalder Str./B187 and continue your way until you reach Garmisch.

Another option from Zurich to Garmisch will present the same route like the previous one from the beginning. But then, after passing Swiss Sankt Margethern and Swiss-Austrian border, continue your way on south, following the road signs to Innsbruck/Feldkirch/Bregenz/Dornbirn. Pass Feldkirch, drive on east, through Innerbraz, Sankt Anton am Arlberg in the direction to Mieminger Str./B189. Continue your way by Fernpassstraße/B179, then turn to Ehrwalder Str./Gries/B187until you reach Garmisch.
