On average, transfers from Bergamo Airport to Abondance will take around 5 hours though this may see significant changes depending on the time of your travel. Abondance is part of one of the most famous ski resorts in the world - Portes du Soleil ski area. Be aware that if travelling at peak times, you can expect to encounter some queues and waiting.

The standard route from Bergamo Airport to Abondance (370km) will usually take you via Mont Blanc Tunnel and Cluses, via routes A4/E64 and E25. Move through SP116 and Via Aeroporto to SS671 (Bergamo). On A4/E64, E25 and N205 move towards Route de Chamonix (Cluses, France). From A40 turn to exit 19. Take the D902 and D32 towards D22 (La Chapelle-d'Abondance).
An alternative route will take you via A4/E64. Through SP116, Via Aeroporto, SP591bis, Via per Zanica/SP591 and Raccordo Autostrada move to A4/E64 (Bergamo). From A4/E64 and E25 move towards E27(Quart). From E25 turn to the exit Aosta Est. Move on SS27, T2 and E27 towards Road № 21 (Martigny-Combe, Svizra). On A9/E27/E62 move towards Route de Saint-Triphon (Ollon). From A9/E27/E62 turn to the exit 18-St-Triphon. Head for Route de Morgins and Route de Bas-Vièze towards D22 (La Chapelle-d'Abondance, France). This route may be closed in case of heavy snow.
The third option is the way via route A9 (366km). Move through SP116 and Via Aeroporto to SS671 (Bergamo). Move on A4/E64, A8 and E62 towards SS33 (Mergozzo). Keep moving towards your destination (Ried-Brig, Svizra). On Kantonsstrasse/Road № 9, and A9 move towards Route de Saint-Triphon (Ollon). Head for Route de Morgins and Route de Bas-Vièze towards D22 (La Chapelle-d'Abondance, France). Always ask the driver about the best possible way to get to the resort. If there is bad weather or snow, you should plan extra time for your transfer.
You don’t have to go directly to your ski destination. You can ask your driver for a shortstop (up to 10 minutes) if you’d like to stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or get a few minutes in the fresh air.
There are plenty of supermarkets en-route to Abondance. You can pick up your much-needed ski holiday essentials (and maybe even a few snacks for the journey) before you get to the resort. Sometimes products bought on the way to Abondance are way cheaper than those found in the resort itself. Please, don’t forget that all shop visits should be pre-booked with Customer Support prior to your arrival.

It’s important to remember that your journey from Bergamo Airport to Abondance will take you to a very high altitude.
Bergamo Airport is located at an altitude of 238 meters, while Abondance sits at an altitude of 1,000m. To some passengers this journey can present some mild discomfort such as nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are particularly prone to feeling especially unwell.
When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey can be difficult for some people. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

Abondance is part of the world's largest skiing domain - Franco-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area, which spreads across 14 valleys and over 400 square miles, 285 individual pistes and 196 lifts servicing 650 km of piste. In addition to the skiing in Abondance itself, the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Portes du Soleil ski resorts. This includes the resorts of Avoriaz, Châtel, Morzine, Les Gets, Torgon, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Champoussin, La Grande Terche, Les Crosets, Montriond, Morgins, Saint Jean d’Aulps, and Champéry.
