Lyon Airport to Les Menuires Transfers

If you’re planning to travel to this beautiful French ski resort, which is the part of the prestigious 3 Valleys (the largest ski area in the world), then make sure you can rely on your airport transfer provider.

Transfers from Lyon to Les Menuires

Generally, airport transfers from Lyon to Les Menuires take about 3 hours 30 minutes depending on traffic, weather and road conditions. Les Menuires is one of the largest ski resorts in the world,  so it may be worth noting that longer waiting times and higher prices are to be expected during peak season.

Alps2Alps will always make sure to provide the most comfortable journey possible. We strongly recommend travelling during the midweek to cut down your time on the road so you have more time on the slopes.

 

Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The shortest route from Lyon to Les Menuires 3 Valleys (190km) leads via route A43 (E70) to Albertville, further via Chambery, and then the national road N90 to Moutiers. Finally, take the D117 to Les Menuires.

The second option is a bit longer (217km). It will take you via routes N90 and D117. Head from the Aéroport Lyon Saint-Exupéry, choosing D517E, D332, D517 and D124Z towards Avenue des Cèdres/D55 (Villette-d'anthon). Continue on to the D55. Head to D65B and D65 towards Route Nationale 75/D1075 (Vertrieu). Take the D19 and D10 in the direction of Avenue de Savoie/D1504 (Virignin). Continue driving on the D1504. From N201, D1006, D1090 and N90 head towards D117 (Salins-les-Thermes). From N90, take the exit 40. Driving along the road D117 head to your destination (Saint-Martin-de-Belleville).

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go directly to your ski resort. If you decide to stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or have a coffee, we will be happy to accommodate you.

There are several supermarkets en-route so if you wish, you can pick up a few snacks on your way to the resort or get some travel essentials.

You may find that products bought on the way to Les Menuires are cheaper than those found in the resort itself, so take advantage of it!.

Les Menuires offers stunning 360° panoramic views of the Three Valleys. Make sure to take your camera with you, so as not to miss the opportunity to some fantastic pictures on your way to the resort. 

If you are planning to rent your skis, don’t wait until you get to the resort; you can get those on your way there. There are ski rental shops in Albertville (1 hour 30 minutes from Lyon airport) that our drivers will be more than happy to take you to.

 

Journey Altitude

It’s important to remember that your journey from Lyon airport to Les Menuires will take you a  through very high altitudes. This may cause some discomfort in some visitors.

Lyon airport sits at around 200m, while the main village of Les Menuires is situated at 1,850m. Some people may experience discomfort, such as nausea, headaches and dizziness. These are often the symptoms of air pressure change.

Small children are more prone to being affected.

The combination of the difference in the air pressure and the steep, serpentine roads, can make for a tough journey for some. If this occurs, then let your driver know and they’ll provide help.

 

The Ski Resort

Les Menuires is situated between Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and the Val Thorens, in the heart of the 3 Valleys ski area. The resort sits amidst beautiful snow-peaked mountains, and its perfect altitude guarantees good snow coverage from November to May.

The Three Valleys ski area includes 8 ski resorts: Courchevel, Val Thorens, Méribel, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville, La Tania, Orelle, and Brides les Bains.

Les Menuires is one of the most affordable ski resorts in terms of accommodation costs and in-resort prices. Acquiring the appropriate ski pass will give you access to 600km of slopes with the 330 ski runs, serviced by 180 ski lifts.

The resort is also excellent for less experienced skiers too. There is a great balance between functionality and friendliness, making this a standout resort!

We also offer low-cost ski rentals. As previously mentioned, we have rental stores situated an hour and a half by car from the Lyon Airport. After picking you up from the airport, we take you to the rental store to have your equipment fitted before you continue your journey.
