The standard route from Bergamo Airport to Zermatt-Tasch (269km) will usually take you via route E62. Move through SP116 and Via Aeroporto to SS671 (Bergamo). Move on A4/E64, A8 and E62 towards SS33 (Mergozzo). Continue to your destination (Ried-Brig, Svizra). Keep moving on to A9. Head for Eyholztunnel towards Talstrasse (Visperterminen). Keep moving on Talstrasse. Move on Kantonsstrasse, Talstrasse, Kantonstrasse, Talstrasse and Breitmatten towards Neue Kantonsstrasse (Täsch). Always ask the driver about the best possible way to get to the resort. If there is bad weather or snow, you should plan extra time for your transfer.

 

What to Do En-Route

If you want to stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or to have a cup of coffee, we will be happy to assist you. You always can ask your driver for a shortstop (up to 10 minutes).

There are several supermarkets en-route to Zermatt-Tasch. If you feel hungry you can buy some snacks or your necessary ski holiday essentials. Sometimes prices can be cheaper compared to the resort stores. Bear in mind, that all shop visits must be pre-booked with Customer Support prior to your arrival.

Journey Altitude

Don’t forget that your journey from Bergamo Airport to Zermatt-Tasch ski resort will take you to a very high altitude. This can present its own potential risks and complications.

Bergamo Airport is located at an altitude of 238 meters, while Zermatt-Tasch lies at an elevation of 1,560m. Some passengers may experience mild discomfort. Nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are often the ones at risk to feel especially unwell.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey can be difficult for some people. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

Zermatt-Tasch Ski Resort

Back in the 19th century, Tasch was a small mountain farming village, it developed to a tourist destination when it was connected to the Zermatt ski area in 1891. Tasch is the last place in the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise before Zermatt.  Zermatt ski resort is a car-free area, the local doctor is the only person allowed to have a car in Zermatt. Like everyone else, you have to leave your car in Tasch and travel by train.

There is a 20 km cross country ski track in Tasch. The resort has direct access to 1 individual piste, served by 1 ski lift (although above average off-slope facilities). The skiing in Tasch is at relatively low altitude, so snow cover can be variable. For snowboarding, there is Fun Park and halfpipe available.

But don’t forget, that Tasch is conveniently located to Zermatt ski area. Skiing in Zermatt is split up into four areas - Sunnegga, Gornergrat, Klein Matterhorn and Schwarzsee. The skiing area stretches from 1,620 to 3,882m. It has direct access to 394 km of downhill skiing, 9km of cross country pistes, 59 individual pistes served by 40 ski lifts.

Zermatt ski resort has plenty on offer for skiers and snowboarders with different levels. The gentlest slopes are found on the Gornergrat slopes, whilst intermediates and experts will find something to entertain them on Sunnegga, especially the long Triftji black run. There is the Gravity Park for snowboarders, which has an incredible 200 m super-pipe, large and small kickers, big rails, a wall ride, curved twin rails, kicked box, double kicked rainbow and s rail, c rail and straight rails.
