Usually, the transfer time from Milan airport to Aosta will be around 2 hours and 20 minutes, though this may get longer due to traffic jams and weather conditions. Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The standard route from Milan airport to Aosta (179km) will usually take you via routes A4/E64 and E25. Take Strada Statale 336. Take the right lane and take the exit towards Aeroporto Cargo City / Torino/Milano / SR11 / Novara. On A4 / E64 and E25, head towards E27 (Quart). From E25 take an exit to Aosta Est. Head to Strada Statale 26 della Valle d'Aosta / SS26 and Viale Giorgio Carrel towards Viale Partigiani (Aosta). If you know that weather or traffic may be bad, simply add extra time for the journey. Always ask the driver about the best possible route.

 

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go straight to your end destination. Ask your driver for a short stop (up to 10 minutes) - if you want to stop at any stage of the trip we will happily accommodate this. You can go outside, breathe in some fresh air or have a cup of tea.

There are several supermarkets en-route to Aosta. If you will get hungry on the way to the resort, you can choose there a few snacks or buy your much-needed travel essentials. Usually, prices in supermarkets en-route are cheaper than in most of the ski resorts. Please note that all shop visits should be pre-booked with Customer Support prior your arrival.

Aosta is surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the Alps. It offers stunning views of the Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Mont Cervino (Matterhorn), the Gran Paradiso and the Monte Rosa. Don’t forget to get your camera open and ready to shoot!

 

Journey Altitude

It’s important to understand that your journey from Milan airport to Aosta will take you to a very high altitude. This can present its own potential complications.

Milan airport sits at 235m, while Aosta sits at an altitude of 1800m. Some passengers can experience mild discomforts, such as nausea, headaches and dizziness. That can be symptoms of the change in altitude. Young children are the ones at risk group to feel unwell.

Aosta Ski Resort

The ancient town of Aosta is situated near the Italian entrance of the Mont Blanc Tunnel, in the Aosta Valley. The town is known as the “Rome of the Alps” because of its beautiful roman monuments. Aosta is a very unique town where it is possible to find many cultural offers and ski and sport activities at the same time. It is connected by cable car to the resort of Pila, a natural balcony offering a 360° view that extends from the Mont-Blanc to the Grand Combin, and from the Cervin to the Mont-Rose.

The Aosta-Pila ski area is a “skis-on” resort, as skiers can access the ski lifts directly from their doorstep. Aosta-Pila ski area provides a total of 70km of slopes, 22km of which is covered by artificial snow. There is a snowpark in Pila and the ski-school in Aosta.

The Aosta-Pila is part of the Aosta Valley ski area with access to 352km of downhill skiing, with 180 individual pistes, served by 62 ski lifts. The appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Aosta Valley ski resorts of Breuil-Cervinia (between Italy and Switzerland), Courmayeur, Crevacol, Etroubles and Saint-Rhemy-en-Bosses.

The Aosta Valley lies in the far north-western corner of Italy, and is bordered by France to the west, Switzerland to the north and the Italian region of Piemonte to the south and East.
