Standard route from Munich to Bad Gastein passes from Munich Airport on the south and then it goes on east through German Irschenberg Commune and Frasdorf. The route goes alongshore Chiemsee lake, through Siegsdorf Commune.

After that this route crosses the German-Austrian border in the vicinity of Salzburg. Continue this road straight on the south, then turn left onto Gasteiner Bundesstraße, and soon you will reach the ski resort.

There is an alternative route which also can be used.

It goes from Munich like the first way from the beginning. But then it passes to south-east through Brannenburg Commune, and you must turn to Tiroler Str. (crossing German-Austrian border). After, your way will pass lengthwise Hefferthorn - Fellhorn -  Sonnenberg National park, then across Zell am See Commune, then you have to turn right onto Gasteiner Bundesstraße and pass around 20 km till Bad Gastein ski resort.

What to Do En-Route

Going travelling with us, remember that it's not obligatorily to go from the airport directly to the ski resort. Relax and ask your driver to make a stop when needed, even just for stretching your legs.
