Transfers from Salzburg to Kaprun

On average, transfers from Salzburg to Kaprun will take around 1 hour 30 minutes though this may see significant changes depending on the time of your travel. Kaprun is a popular ski destination, if travelling at high times, you can expect to encounter some crowd and waiting. Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The shortest route from Salzburg to Kaprun is to go via Kasernenstraße to A1. Take the A10 and B311 towards  Kaprunerstraße (Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße).Than take Salzachuferstraße in the direction of Schloßstraße (Kaprun).

Second option is to go via Logger Str in the direction of Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse/B1.  Head on B21 and B178 B311 towards  BruckerStr (Zell am See). Take Kaprunerstraße in the direction of Schloßstraße (Kaprun).

Third option is much more time consuming and longer, you can use it if other options are unavailable. Head for Logger Str. in the direction of Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse/B1. Head over B21, B178, B161 and B168 towards Kaprunerstraße (Piesendorf). Continue driving on Kaprunerstraße. Than take Landesstraße towards Schloßstraße (Kaprun).

Always ask the driver about the best possible route. If there is bad weather or snow, simply add extra time for your transfer.

 

What to Do En-Route

You don’t have to go straight to your ski resort. If you wish to stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or breathe a fresh air, we will happily accommodate this.

There are several supermarkets on your way to Kaprun. If you get hungry on your way to the resort, you can choose a few snacks for the journey. You may find products bought on the way to Kaprun are cheaper than those found in the resort itself. Maybe that is useful to get also your travel essentials before your arrival to your ski destination.

The town of Kaprun is located directly below the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. This fantastic location between the picturesque Zeller See and Kitzsteinhorn makes Kaprun the amazing holiday destination. Get your camera while you are on the way to the resort out and start snapping.

 

Journey Altitude

It’s important to remember that your journey from Salzburg to Kaprun will take you to a high altitude. This presents its own potential complications.

Salzburg airport sits at 430m, the main village of Kaprun is at 800m. Sometimes passengers can experience some discomfort, such as nausea, headaches and dizziness. That can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Particularly young children are often those who are feeling unwell.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey can be difficult for some people. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

It’s not the nicest feeling in the world when you are not feeling well, but the beautiful view can be the perfect medicine for you.

 

Kaprun Ski Resort

Kaprun shares a ski area with Zell am See and is part of the Europa Sport Region ski area.

Kaprun ski area has access to 130km of downhill skiing, 49 individual pistes, served by 25 ski lifts. Appropriate ski Lift pass will give you the access to ski or snowboard in the other Europa Sport Region ski resorts of Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn.  There is a regular ski bus between Kaprun and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, which links the high altitude skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier where there are powder bowls.
