Route Details, Issues & Alternatives

The direct route from Salzburg to Solden (263 km), will usually take you via routes A8 and A12. Take A 93 Autobahn to Kufstein, then A 12 Autobahn (direction Bregenz) via Innsbruck – exit: Ötztal. From A12/E60 turn to the exit 123. Drive towards B186 (35 km) to Sölden.

What to Do En-Route

You don’t necessary have to go straight to your ski resort. If you wish to make a short stop at any stage of the trip to stretch your legs or breathe a fresh air, we will happily accommodate this.

There are several supermarkets on your way to Solden. You can buy some snacks for the journey or necessary ski holiday essentials before you get to the resort. Sometimes products bought on the way to ski resort can be cheaper than those found in the resort stores. Please note that all shop visits should be pre-booked with Customer Support prior your arrival.

Solden is located in the beautiful Ötztal valley. You can enjoy magnificent mountain views and valley below during your trip. Take your camera, get excited, and start snapping.

Journey Altitude

It’s important to realise that your journey from Salzburg to Solden will take you to a very high altitude. This may present its own potential complications.

Salzburg airport sits at 430m, while Solden sits at an altitude of 1377m. This journey can present some passengers with mild discomfort. Nausea, headaches and dizziness can be symptoms of the change in air pressure. Young children are especially at-risk of feeling unwell.

When you combine this air pressure change with steep, serpentine roads, the journey sometimes can be difficult. If needed, ask your driver to lower the temperature in the vehicle to help you feel more comfortable.

When feeling particularly unwell, the beautiful Austrian scenery during the trip to Solden can act as the perfect medicine for you.

How Much Will Your Transfer From Salzburg to Solden Cost?

At Alps 2 Alps, we aim to offer the amazing value transfers to all ski resorts in the Austrian Alps. We like to take a transparent approach to price structure. We take a number of factors into consideration when calculating our quotes. These include:

  • Your journey

  • The number of people travelling

  • The day and time you travel

  • Any discounts available

When calculating fares, we start with our standard price and then reduce this based on the factors mentioned above. This dynamic approach means we only ever decrease our prices – never increase them.

Pricing is also affected by vehicle availability, transfer schedule, vehicle utilisation and additional costs such as road tolls and parking charges.

Midweek Transfers

If you want to lower your costs, spend less time stuck in traffic and see your dream destination at a less frenetic time, we highly recommend you to travel in the middle of the week. A midweek transfer can save you up to 60%. More discounts are available for the travelling off-season and off-peak.
