Whilst there are a handful of new resorts popping up in the Alps this 2023/2024 season, there are a couple we’ve got out eyes on:

  • Auron: Situated at 1600m, Auron boasts 135km of pristine slopes, making it the largest ski area in the region. Just 1.5 hours from Nice airport, it’s a convenient choice in the Alpes Maritimes department.
  • Manigod: This charming, family-friendly village near Le Grand Bornand offers 209km of interconnected slopes. Perfect for beginners, it’s also one of the easiest to reach from Calais for self-drive ski holidays.

What’s New in the French Alps for 2023 / 2024?

Get ready for a host of exciting updates in the French Alps:

  • Les 3 Vallées: New gondola lifts connecting Orelle and Val Thorens, a ROC 1 Gondola upgrade, and the Pointe de la Masse Museum are highlights this season
  • Les Gets: Enjoy a new escape room game, a 2-day snowshoe hike experience, and the rebranded 4 Season’s Mountain Coaster. Also, don’t miss the World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships from January 27th to February 3rd
  • Les Menuires: The Mountain Luge has been revamped and renamed ‘La Mine,’ celebrating the area’s coal mining history. Plus, the resort turns 60 in 2024 with special events
  • St Martin de Belleville: There’s a new microbrewery offering locally sourced beer in the former Goat Farm at Le Châtelard. Try ‘La Masse,’ ‘La Belleville,’ and ‘La Thorens.’

What’s new in Austria?

Here’s what’s new in Austria this season…

  • Tirol: The Family-Friendly Ski Area Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis introduces the 10-seater EUB Komperdell lift and the Ski Area Kappl & See features a new ski circuit.
  • Tiroler Zugspitz Arena: The Ehrwalder Almbahn has a newly rebuilt valley station with escalators, a sheltered bus stop, and more, along with piste modifications and a renewal of the artificial snow system.

What’s new for Switzerland ski season 2023 / 2024?

  • Andermatt-Sedrun is getting a $10 million investment in snowmaking, on-mountain dining, and more for the 2023/2024 season. This includes upgrades to the Valtgeza restaurant and renovation of the Milez and Natschen restaurants.

What’s new in the Italian Alps for 2023/24?

  • Zermatt + Cervinia: The Matterhorn Alpine Crossing cableway now offers a year-round connection between Zermatt and Cervinia, with stunning Matterhorn views.

New ski passes for 2023/24 ski season

These major ski passes are making skiing and riding around the world more accessible while saving you money. Here’s a glimpse of their latest updates:

Epic Pass: Expanding its European access, Epic Pass now includes the Swiss resort Andermatt-Sedrun and the neighboring Disentis Ski area. Pass holders can seamlessly travel between them via the Cuolm da Vi gondola and Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. The new and improved My Epic App features the Mobile Pass, utilizing Bluetooth technology for hands-free lift access.

Indy Pass: Adding over 50 new Alpine and Nordic resorts for the 2023/2024 season, Indy Pass offers a diverse selection of skiing destinations across Europe, Japan, and Western Canada. Pass holders now receive a physical RFID-enabled Indy Pass for added convenience. Limited quantities went on sale on October 10th.

As the 58th edition of the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup season unfolds, watch out for the dynamic performances of Mikaela Shiffrin and Marco Odermatt. The season kicks off with the traditional opening giant slaloms in Soelden, Austria.

Club GB Celebrates 120 Years

The Ski Club of Great Britain is turning 120, and they’re bringing exciting new initiatives to the table:

  • Return for Reps in France: The Ski Club reps program is back in France, expanding its reach to 24 resorts.
  • Membership Card as Lift Pass: Enjoy a streamlined experience with one card serving as both your membership card and lift pass, reducing plastic waste.
  • Automatic Public Liability Insurance: All members will now have public liability insurance built in as standard.
  • Brand New Website: Stay informed with a redesigned website, launching in the autumn.
  • Meet the Ski Club at Snow Shows: Get ready for engaging conversations about the benefits of joining the Ski Club at the National Snow Show events. Plus, meet Ski Club ambassador Chemmy Alcott.
